In an effort to protect and restore the reserve, a group of local people joined together in November 2005 and formed the Friends of Sot’s Hole. This friendly group meet at Hallam Street Community Centre, just around the corner from Sot’s Hole and help to plan work in the reserve, not just practical activities, but also for instance applying for funding, planning and running events, publicity, historical research, and so on. Much has been achieved since the group started, look at our News page for more information or better still visit Sot's Hole and see for yourself... but there is still work to be done and plans are always in motion. The involvement of local people is important in maintaining and improving this local amenity that is open for everyone to enjoy and for wildlife to benefit. We are always seeking new members who will be made most welcome, see the Events page for the date of our next meeting or call Jo Miskin, Projects and Community Liaison Officer, Sandwell MBC on 0121 553 0220. |
